Project Aqua
Project Aqua is a game in development by
Aethr. It started back in 2001 when the idea of creating an RPG sparked in 7th grade student John Skinner. The idea was small, but the dream grew big.
Years later, Skinner built the first game engine with Tim Lehnen and Tim Davis. They became the founders of the game. Soon after, Ernest Liu joined the crew as the first official artist. Later, more students and volunteers from around the world (anywhere from Argentina to Australia) came on deck and started to contribute to the development of the full-fledged RPG.
The game will be completed in honor of John Skinner, who unfortunately left us in November 29th, 2005. He may not be here to complete it with us, but he was the spark that left us with a big dream that will some day become reality.
Aethr
Aethr is the game development group that formed as a result of
Project Aqua. We are dedicated to restoring the fundamentals to the role-playing genre; story driven design, game-play innovation, and a unification of art and music that ensures the contribution of every aspect of development to final product that will stun players and critics alike.
That's not the only revolution.
Aethr is made up of students and dedicated volunteers. We're proving to the industry that game development is not about big budgets and expensive eye-candy. We're proving that dedication, innovation, and creativity made the industry what it is today and will drive the industry forward.
Production
We are aiming to create a fully-playable RPG for the computer platform. Such a task requires careful planning and dedicated team members.
Organization ~ The production of
Project Aqua undergoes careful planning and organization to ensure efficient production. Since Aethr is composed highly of students, production reaches its peak during the summer season.
Funding ~ Since
Aethr is not a corporation with fully employed workers, the funding comes from our own pockets and generous donators who support us.
Motivation ~ We are not motivated by big bucks, nor by glory or fame. We're in it for the fun, for the experience of creating something amazing that will bring joy and happiness to gung-ho gamers around the world.
